Eastern Screech Owl

Screech owls don't actually screech, they make a trilling sound. Here's a great example. 

 

Barred Owl Mating Call

This is a great example of a barred owl mating call.  Folks in the South say this sounds like "Who cooks for you, who cooks for you all".  Note the trill on the end - this is a female barred owl. 

 

Great Horned Owl

Hiss #1

Hiss is a great horned owl, and he's making a his trademark hissing sound.  Great horned owls and some other owls hiss to scare away people or other owls or animals.

Klik Klak is a barred owl; in addition to the infinite kinds of sounds they make, they can also click their beaks as a warning.

Red Shoulder

Red Shoulders are often noisy.  They fly through the woods screaming to flush prey.  Often they will hunt in pairs, with one flushing the prey and the other hiding in a tree ready to swoop down.
